Renowned Israeli cellist Benjamin Shapira
is the winner of numerous competitions and awards.
Following the footsteps of other major artists of Israeli
origins, Shapira’s talent was recognized at a
very early age. He was hand-picked by Isaac Stern to
join a small selected group of protégé young
artists at the Jerusalem Music Center, where he worked
under many celebrated cellists, including Janos Starker,
Leonard Rose and others. After his celebrated Carnegie
Hall performance of the Complete Bach Suites for Cello
Solo, was immediately invited to perform the Complete
Beethoven Cello Sonatas in Lincoln Center’s Alice
Tully Hall. Since, he is in constant demand as a soloist,
performing all over the United States and abroad.
