| Renowned
Israeli cellist Benjamin Shapira, winner of numerous
competitions and awards, is one of the most active
artists of his generation. Following the footsteps
of other major artists of Israeli origins, Shapira’s
talent was recognized at a very early age. He was quickly
embraced by the America Israel Cultural Foundation
and by the Jerusalem Music Center, both under the patronage
of Isaac Stern. |
Indeed it was
within the walls of the Jerusalem Music Center that Shapira
was exposed to some of the world’s greatest musicians.
Belonging to a small, selected group of protégé young
artists carefully handpicked by Isaac Stern, Shapira
worked with many celebrated cellists, including Janos
Starker, Leonard Rose and others. Later Shapira studied
under the supervision of Aldo Parisot and Zara Nelsova.
